In an effort to provide an outlet where all alumni can stay connected, no matter when they graduated or where they live, The University of Texas at El Paso has relaunched MinerLink, a free online platform aimed at maximizing alumni connection to UTEP and each other.

Once registered on MinerLink, UTEP alumni receive a direct link to University news, events, networking, mentoring opportunities, career opportunities and more.

“MinerLink is a game changer for us because it centralizes alumni engagement, making it even easier to stay connected,” said Maribel Villalva, assistant vice president for alumni relations. “We recognize that alumni have different ways of engaging. For example, some alumni might want to volunteer more, while some other alumni might be more interested in mentoring or contributing to a scholarship endowment. Others might just want to keep up with the latest UTEP news. There is something for everybody on MinerLink.”

Through the MinerLink platform, UTEP alumni can update their profile, contact information and professional history, and indicate how they would like to stay engaged with the University. Users have access to connect with former classmates and alumni around the world through MinerLink’s alumni directory. One of the site’s features is an interactive map that highlights Miners throughout the globe. Alumni also can use the Career Mine to share, post and apply for available positions.

Here are some additional benefits to registering for a free MinerLink account:

  • Alumni can easily register and create a profile in just minutes using their Facebook or LinkedIn accounts, or sign up by email.
  • Alumni can engage with their alma mater no matter where they live through online communities that connect them to alumni chapters and networks, or allows them to start a chapter in their area.
  • Through the Digital Mentorship Program, alumni can sign up to be mentors or mentees to fellow alums or UTEP students. Users also can pick a project and volunteer in their area.

Laura Biggs, president of the UTEP Alumni Association, said the features of MinerLink make it easy for alumni to stay engaged. UTEP has more than 100,000 living alumni, and she encourages all of them to sign up.

“MinerLink helps you expand your alumni connection to UTEP – no more searching different social media sites to stay connected. It’s all in one location. Now there is no excuse for keeping in touch with your alma mater,” Biggs said.
