UTEP Launches Comprehensive Events Calendar

As The University of Texas at El Paso continues to grow, so do the number of campus events and activities. UTEP officially launched a new and easy way to keep track of it all with the UTEP Events Calendar.
The calendar offers a comprehensive list of events organized, hosted, sponsored or co-sponsored by the University and its departments, schools, colleges, centers, institutes, alumni organizations and officially sanctioned student organizations.
“The beginning of a new academic year is always exciting, a time to renew commitments and aspirations, and set new goals,” UTEP President Diana Natalicio said. “We are very pleased to announce that one of last year’s goals — to create a comprehensive, integrated, online UTEP Events Calendar — has been accomplished, and that valuable resource is now available to all of us as we launch another highly promising new academic year on the UTEP campus.”
The calendar had a soft launch this summer and it already contains more than 100 upcoming events that represent many entities across campus to include the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens, the Office of Alumni Relations and the Athletics Department.
Arthur Gibbons, a junior business major, said the UTEP Events Calendar is helpful because he used to check several sources to find out about campus activities.
“Before, I would walk around campus and look for flyers, posters and check my email,” Gibbons said. “The calendar helps out a lot. It’s up to date and accurate.”
Events are organized by date, department, venue, audience and a variety of other tags. Campus activities are a quick search away, and each event can be saved on your personal Apple, Google or Outlook calendar.
Ruben Clark, a senior metallurgical and materials engineering major, said he tries to get involved in campus activities as much as he can, and he loves to see the campus come together during events like Minerpalooza and tailgates. He said he used to check his email often to make sure he did not miss anything.
“A whole lot of different places have a lot of different events,” Clark said. “Having it all in one place is nice.”
