In observance of Memorial Day, The University of Texas at El Paso’s remote offices will not be staffed Monday, May 25.
Regular hours of remote operation will resume Tuesday, May 26. The first summer session begins Monday, June 8.
“Memorial Day was always one of my favorite holidays,” said UTEP President Heather Wilson. “There was usually a parade. The flowers were coming out and school was nearly over. But sometime on that weekend, between the cookouts and kick ball games with cousins, we would go to the cemetery and tend to the graves of family members. Some of those graves were marked with the American flags of service members. And we would hear their stories. In a more normal year, we might gather with family and friends this weekend. While this is not a normal year, there is still time for gratitude and quieter reflection on the sacrifices made for us.”
