Students in the Master of Science in Computer Engineering gain advanced knowledge in computer networking, internet of things, machine learning, edge computing, signal and image processing, and cyber physical systems. Students can work with faculty involved in local, national and international collaborations that enhance opportunities for research, technical training and developing professional networks.

Kirsten Nicole Byers said faculty at the College of Engineering were essential to her success. Through UTEP's partnership with UC Irvine and its Machine Learning Repository, Byers presented meaningful findings that reveal efficient use of architectures amid computational complexity. Today, she is a software engineer at ExxonMobil.
UTEP prepares computer engineers to work in reserach and development, industry, government and private business. Graduates have been hired by Texas Instruments, Raytheon Technologies, Intel, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, IBM, NASA, Blue Origin, national laboratories and more. They are also recruited in finance, health and other industries that depend on computing technology for their operations.
