Designed for teachers with at least two years of teaching experience, this program gives you research-based knowledge and tools to improve your high school mathematics teaching. It positions you to teach entry-level mathematics at the college level as well. You will learn how to become an informed consumer of published math education research and be adept at conducting practical research in your classroom. As MATM graduates, you will benefit from the opportunity to connect with the larger math education community and from the increased earning potential and professional options.

Abigail Trejo knows that she must continuously evolve as a teacher in order to best serve her students, which prompted her to enroll in the MAT program for mathematics. Throughout her studies, she has dived deeply into mathematical concepts and learned to how extend conceptual connections beyond algorithms, procedures and knowledge. As an Algebra I teacher at Horizon High School, Abigail leverages the knowledge she acquired through the MAT program to make mathematics more relevant than ever for her students.
Our alumni thrive as expert middle and high school math instructors who may seek certification to teach dual-credit courses. In secondary schools, they can be promoted to department/campus leaders, develop curriculum and mentor novice teachers.
