U.S. national security relies on highly qualified experts able to predict and respond to threats to the nation and our communities. UTEP's unique online program prepares students to work in homeland security and other intelligence agencies, the armed forces, law enforcement or other cybersecurity careers.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection supervisor Jose A. Pinela praised the Security Studies faculty and appreciated the online courses that fit his busy schedule. The El Paso native recommends the degree to others interested in careers in law enforcement or intelligence.
Graduates with a B.A. in Security Studies often pursue careers in federal law enforcement, the intelligence community, private security companies or the military. Many work for government agencies including the CIA, Department of Homeland Security, FBI and National Security Agency. Graduates may go on to earn a master's degree in security studies, intelligence studies or defense and strategic studies.
