Study the art history of Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia from the prehistoric era to the present. Art history majors gain a perspective beyond the classroom through opportunities such as presenting their research at the annual Art History Symposium and at local museums, studying abroad in Italy, and working as interns at local, regional and national institutions.

Karina Salcido pursued an art history degree because of her lifelong interest in art and the cultural significance of its creation. Salcido, an HSI Pathways to the Professoriate Fellow and a recipient of an Eduardo Rafael Santos-Vega Student Excellence Scholarship in support of her research, said UTEP provides experiences important to graduate schools and employers. She earned an M.A. in Art History from The University of Texas at Austin in 2021.
UTEP art history alumni are trained for jobs in the arts but also learn essential skills for many career paths. Many work as educators, historians or museum directors.
