A B.A. in English will generate opportunities for students to teach English Language Arts at the middle and high school levels. Alumni of the program make a difference in the community, with many teaching at schools throughout the Paso del Norte region.

Anjanette Darrington, Ph.D., has worked for years with school districts to ease the transition to university instruction. Her courses develop future English teachers' writing skills. She recently started podcasts where students offer writing tips.
Students gain strong skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing. Graduates learn the techniques and strategies that can prepare them for careers as middle school and high school English teachers or librarians.
