UTEP's philosophy program prepares students for a career in academia, journalism, data analysis, government or NGO work. It also provides a successful path to law school. The Law School Admission Council reports that philosophy majors score higher on the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) than any other major.
El Paso native Taylor Gamboa said UTEP’s philosophy program helped her look at every side of a situation. The first-generation college graduate said that skill has served her well. She is a recipient of UTEP’s Presidential Excellence Scholarship and is currently attending law school at the University of California, Berkeley.
A degree in philosophy is one of the best ways to prepare for a career in the legal profession. Another popular career opportunity for philosophy majors is to teach courses in philosophy, religion and theology.
