UTEP’s political science program and the University’s location on the U.S.-Mexico border is a boon for students pursuing careers in international affairs in government agencies at the federal, state or local level. Students can broaden their perspective in concentration fields such as Comparative Politics or American Political Behavior and Institutions.

Armand Avila praised faculty for their deep knowledge and insistence on student interaction, which have created a dynamic learning environment. As a student, he volunteers with social justice and voting rights groups and has served in leadership roles with the Student Government Association.
