Biomolecule Analysis and Omics (BAO)
Biomolecule Analysis Unit
The Biomolecule Analysis Unit (BAU) contributes to the BBRC by specializing in the separation and characterization of biomolecules. The BACF is available to all BBRC investigators, other UTEP users and external collaborators.
Most instruments are accessible as shared-resources at no charge for the users. Service is also provided for sequencing and identification of proteins and peptides using LC/MS-MS on a recharge basis.

Genomic Analysis Unit
The Genomics unit specifically contributes to the BBRC through its support of researcher’s increasing need for research tools such as Sanger sequencing, qRT-PCR and Next Generation Sequencing. The Genomics unit is available to all BBRC faculty, staff, and students, as well as external users from UTEP and other research institutions in The El Paso region.
The Genomics unit provides equipment including thermocyclers for gradient PCR and qRT-PCR, imaging systems, UV-VIS spectrophotometers and high speed centrifuges operating on a 24-hour, 7-day per week basis, as a shared resource and at no charge to the users. Facility personnel provide oversight and training in the proper use of the equipment. The Genomics unit also provides service on a recharge basis for sequencing and quality testing of nucleic acids.
