Proteomics and Metabolomics
Mission Statement
The Proteomics and Metabolomics (PM) Unit at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), supported by the Border Biomedical Research Center (BBRC), is a fee-for-service core facility that provides state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation and comprehensive computational support to investigators. Our mission is to advance critical areas of biomedical research—including proteomics, metabolomics, glycoproteomics, and clinical biomarker discovery—by offering access to cutting-edge mass spectrometry, advanced liquid chromatography, and automated liquid handling. We are dedicated to providing high-quality technical training, sophisticated methodology development, and robust data analysis to empower basic, clinical, and translational research.
Facility Hours and Access
Facility Hours: Regular operating hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Full independent (24/7) access is available exclusively to designated users who have completed all necessary training and supervised runs.
Access Process: All new users must initiate access by emailing proteomics@utep.edu with a brief description of their project needs. Following a mandatory initial consultation meeting, users must complete UTEP SciShield EH&S compliance training, register via our iLab operations software, and sign the Core Facility Use Agreement. Physical access and independent instrument reservations are granted only after the completion of tier-specific training and supervised competency sessions. Please review our Master SOP for detailed access requirements.
