The UTEP School of Pharmacy is the first pharmacy school/college on the Texas – Mexico border!
Be part of an advanced and growing field, and improve the well-being of the El Paso region, the nation, and beyond! A career in Pharmacy means helping people get the best results from their medication and assisting them to lead full, healthy lives. Pharmacy is a rewarding and fulfilling career with many opportunities in research, patient care, community practice, and leadership. The School of Pharmacy is committed to developing pharmacists with IDEAL (Innovation, Diversity, Engagement, Access, and Leadership) attributes who will become leaders in the field and in their community. We do this by providing our students with unique learning opportunities, such as study away, capstone research, and service learning.
Students interested in pursuing admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program at UTEP can begin their preparation for this in many of the College of Science undergraduate degree programs.
We partner with hospitals and other health science centers to provide an educational setting where pharmacy students work with other healthcare students, such as medical, nursing, and physical therapy students, to give you firsthand experience working as an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Pharmacy students complete a capstone Project with a faculty mentor. This scholarly project can focus on improving pharmacy practice, education, or research in fields such as medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, psychiatry, and pediatrics. Here are some pharmacy-related areas that you can choose to pursue with a Pharm.D.:
