Humanities 3306: Paths of the Prophet

Beginning in 7th century CE Arabia, this course investigates the elaboration of ideas within the frame of Islamic Culture between 600 CE and the 1453 CE. The function of the course is to expose students to some of the seminal ideas and texts which have been integral in shaping “Islamic Culture” and the ways in which we think about it today. Texts are drawn from the fields of history, literature, political science, music, theoretical science, religion, and the fine arts.
Prerequisite: RWS 1302 or ESOL 1312 with a grade of C or better.
