Department: Chemistry
Dr. Chad Hoyer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He received his PhD in Chemical Physics from the University of Minnesota under the supervision of Donald Truhlar and Laura Gagliardi and followed up with a postdoc at University of Washington under Xiaosong Li. His expertise is in the broadly-defined area of computational and theoretical chemistry, specifically the development and application of quantum mechanics to the study of molecules and materials. Chad Hoyer started as Assistant Professor in the chemistry department at UTEP in Fall 2024. His research program is currently tackling problems in nuclear energy, rare-earth separations, catalysis, and quantum computing.
