Dr. Salah Harb is an Assistant Research Professor in the Institute for Applied AI Innovation at The University of Texas at El Paso. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jordan, in 2011 and 2014, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, in 2023, where his research focused on the hardware implementation of cryptosystems using reconfigurable platforms, as well as signal and image processing systems.
Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Harb was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), California, working on distributed fiber-optic sensing and high-performance signal processing architectures. Before joining UTEP, he was a Research Fellow at the Computational Mathematics and Data Science Center at Florida Institute of Technology, where he developed cloud-based AI/ML platforms for large-scale medical datasets. His research expertise spans reconfigurable and embedded system design, hardware acceleration for classical and post-quantum cryptographic systems, signal and image processing, fiber-optic sensing, and cloud-based AI/ML systems for data-driven applications.
Keywords of Expertise: Hardware Security, FPGA Design, Cryptographic Hardware, Embedded Systems, Post-Quantum Cryptography, Fiber-Optic Sensing, Signal and Image Processing, Machine Learning, Cloud-Based AI/ML Systems.
