A Note from Giorgio Gotti

On behalf of the UTEP Department of Accounting and Information Systems, I want to welcome our faculty, students, staff, alumni, and friends to the semester newsletter of the Accounting and Information Systems Department. The spring 2020 semester began strong with 417 Accounting, 72 Information Systems, 81 Master of Accountancy (MAcc), and 8 Ph.D.  students enrolled.  Despite the challenging global situation and UTEP campus being in restricted operation,  during the spring Hooding event, the Woody L. Hunt College of Business and the AIS Department awarded degrees to 27 MAcc students and four Ph.D. candidates with a concentration in accounting.  In April 2020, we received the great news that the Accounting program was ranked twentieth on Discover Accounting's list of the 101 Most Affordable Accounting Programs in America. I am happy to share that during the past year AIS students have received more than $30,000 in scholarships.    I encourage you to connect with us through social media and keep up-to-date on our latest news!
