Volunteerism/ The Cue
Volunteerism/The Cue
The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) serves as a vital connector between UTEP students, faculty, and staff and meaningful community engagement opportunities throughout the El Paso region. We build strong partnerships between the university and local nonprofit organizations to foster civic impact and meaningful collaboration. Our mission is to create pathways for UTEP affiliates to engage with the community, contribute to local initiatives, and develop as civically minded leaders. We provide resources, host tabling and civic engagement events, and share volunteer and community-based learning opportunities on The CUE—UTEP’s online community engagement platform.
Volunteerism For Students
The CCE connects students with community needs through a wide range of service opportunities, including:
- Days of Service
- Ongoing volunteer roles
- One-day events tailored to student interests
Through these experiences, students gain a deeper understanding of social issues, develop lifelong skills, and build a strong foundation of civic responsibility.

The CUE
The CUE (Community, University, Engagement) is a web-based platform that connects students with engagement opportunities across the Paso del Norte region. Students can:
- Explore local nonprofit partners and volunteer events
- Log and track service hours
- Share their experiences and generate impact summaries
It’s your hub for staying involved and making a difference in the community.
To begin exploring community engagement opportunities that match your interest/needs, join The CUE!

Project MOVE
Project MOVE (Miner Opportunities for Volunteer Experiences) is UTEP’s signature annual day of service and one of our most impactful traditions. This high-energy, high-impact event brings together students, faculty, staff, and alumni to give back through hands-on service. Participants apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges while developing leadership and community-building skills—all in one day.

Volunteer Fair
Hosted each fall and spring (September and April), the Volunteer Fair connects students directly with local nonprofit organizations. This dynamic event provides an opportunity to learn about different agencies, discover volunteer roles that align with personal interests and passions, and engage with community leaders in a meaningful way.

Voter Engagement
The CCE is committed to non-partisan civic education and participation. We host campus-wide events that provide students with essential information on voter registration, ballot access, and election timelines. Our goal is to empower students to be active participants in the democratic process.

Days of Service
Throughout the academic year, the CCE organizes local Days of Service aligned with national service movements. These events offer students and campus groups the chance to join large-scale volunteer efforts, connect with the broader El Paso community, and contribute to collective impact. They’re a great first step to getting involved.
