Recent Birds at Rio Bosque
Water deliveries to the park from the Roberto Bustamante Wastewater Treatment Plant resumed 5 May, and deliveries of irrigation water began 3 June. The full length of the old river channel now has water, and some is also going to the wetland cells.
A pair of Black-bellied Whistlng-Ducks on 6 June represented a new species for the park. As of 28 June, these birds were still being seen intermittently.
A Yellow-billed Cuckoo on 13 June was the first detected at the park since late May 2024.
The park's pair of White-tailed Kites has not been seen since 7 October 2025. The park's pair of nesting Cooper's Hawks fledged at least one young.
Burrowing Owls are currently using 3 sites in the northern portion of the park.
Northern Cardinals continue to be seen and heard along the old river channel within the park.
