UTEP Core Facilities
The Border Biomedical Research Center (BBRC) at UTEP facilitates and expands the pathobiology research at UTEP by strengthening the research infrastructure. The BBRC supports multi-user research facilities in biochemistry/molecular cell biology, preparatory cell culture, analytical cytology, genomic analysis and statistical consulting.
- Analytical cytology core facility (2,000 sq. ft): Transmission electron microscope, confocal microscope, ultramicrotome with diamond knives, fluorescent microscope with video imaging, etc.
- Genomic analysis core facility (2,600 sq. ft): DNA sequence, microarray analysis, DNA/RNA preparation, qPCR machine, gel documentation, etc.
- Cell culture and screening core facility (2,000 sq. ft): Cell sorting, BD pathway 855 high content bioimager, primary culture, etc.
- Biomolecule analysis core facility: Sequencing and identification of proteins and peptide using LC/MS-MS
