iTEC 2017 Career Day

We cannot thank enough to Hortencia Lazcano, Ms. Rita Sardaryzadeh, and iTEC staff for the wonderful opportunity of letting us present to their students about the Social Work Program at the University of Texas at El Paso to their students on December 6, 2017. Giving is not the only quality social workers are known for, but also for teaching. It was an extraordinary feeling and opportunity to teach and inform others of what we do as Social Workers. We have confidence that these students are the future assets of this community; and what better way than to guide them to the path of service, advocacy, compassion, and even of education. The students from iTEC Prep were beyond attentive, open minded, and respectful to what we had to say regarding our Social Work Program. Many showed a genuine interest, as they had never heard before of what Social Work really is about. The feeling of joy overcame us, as we never pictured how important our jobs would appear to young adults. We look forward to participating again with iTEC Prep as they opened their doors to not only our UTEP Department of Social Work, but also to the many agencies and fields we represent in this passionate and arduous career.
