Mr. Delgado is at the Young Women’s STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy in the El Paso Independent School District where he teaches computer science and integrates computational thinking using bilingual pedagogy. His nominator stated that “he has cultivated the ability to be successful in the world of computer science and to view computer science from multiple standpoints enabling [his students] to evaluate the world around them.”

Ms. Luna is the Computer Science teacher at Fabens Middle School in the Fabens Independent School District where she teachers Fundamentals of Computer Science. She makes real-world connections for her students through Amazon Future Engineer and programming robots. Her passion for STEM has influenced the 26% increase in the number of girls who seek STEM endorsement.

Ms. Romo is at Pebble Hills High School in the Socorro Independent School District. She is collaborating with UTEP in NSF research that will advance CS education. Ms. Romo seeks new ways to improving her teaching methods, having a talent for taking complex concepts and simplifying them for her students.

Mr. Santos is the AP Computer Science teacher at Eastwood High School in the Ysleta Independent School District where he also teaches engineering design and robotics. Santos has led robotics teams to state and national competitions. He holds numerous certifications in robotics and programming languages (please note that Paul Torres Santos is no longer the school district).

Ms. Tabor is the Computer Science teacher at Northwest Early College High School in the Canutillo Independent School District (CISD) where she is the advisor for Girls Who Code and the Computer Science Honor Society. Tabor has been instrumental in expanding Girls Who Code to all of CISD’s middle schools, which is supported by her high school students. Ms. Tabor is the Paso del Norte CSTA Chapter President, a position she has held for the last three years.

Mr. Enriquez has been a CS teacher for 10 years and prepares his students for various competitions in CS. Several of his former students are undergraduates in computer science.
Karina Melendez

Ms. Melendez is a Fine Arts teacher who has been teaching CS for two years. She is currently in the Microsoft TEALS program and Microsoft Teacher Academy pursuing her certification in CS. Her students participate in STEAM events working with younger students to explore the world of CS.

Mr. Portillo started the Computer Science program at Irvin High School and has attended conventions and training on his own time and at his own expense during the summer breaks. He is an adjunct professor of CS OnRamps and received two alumni awards from the Microsoft TEALS program. Mr. Portillo is working closely with administration to create a comprehensive CS program.

Ms. Roskosky is the middle school CS teacher at Canutillo Middle School where she inspires her students to gain hands-on experience with coding, robotics, an app development. Her students have made presentations at STEM conferences.
Shawn Trousdale

While a teacher for the last 15 years, Mr. Trousdale has been teaching CS for the last two years. This past year, his APCSP sections were recognized by the College Board as having the hightest female rations in the region. He is a member of the CSTA regional chapter and is pursuing his CS teacher certification through the Microsoft Teacher Academy.
