Ricardo Gonzalez EFO, MPA, CEM
Assistant Director of EH&S Emergency Management Coordinator / Fire Marshal
The safety of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) community during an emergency is predicated on advance planning, as well as situational awareness among the campus response teams, faculty and staff about how the emergency plans will be implemented and their roles in an emergency. Students, faculty, staff and visitors are better prepared in an emergency when they understand how the University has planned respond, where they can find important information regarding plans, and what they each should do to protect themselves and others around them.
The Office of Emergency Management is part of the Environmental Health and Safety Department at UTEP. The Emergency Management Office is an essential resource for evaluating emergency plans, offering constructive input to planning efforts, and exercising plans to assure readiness. The staff is responsible to coordinate emergency exercises, fire drills, and training the UTEP Campus Responders to a high degree of readiness.
