Joint-Lab
The Joint Lab, in the College of Engineering at UTEP, focuses on applying engineering and biomechanical principles to understand and prevent human joint injuries and degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis. We combine experimental and computational approaches to further our understanding of joint biomechanics during highly-dynamic daily activities as well as injury situations. Our other goal is to train undergraduate and graduate students in performing relevant quality research in musculoskeletal biomechanics.
In addition, the Lab established a strong collaboration with LIMBS International to develop and test low-cost highly-functional prosthetic solutions for the developing world. This interdisciplinary research environment provides our students with novel and exciting research and engineering projects.
