Previously: Homecoming 2020 Events Postponed Until 2021
The very first Homecoming at UTEP was held on November 9, 1929, and five days later, The Prospector
had this to say about it…
“The purpose of Home-coming Day is for the graduates and the upperclassmen in the College to become acquainted. As the years go by, old associations are forgotten; this day will revive all old ties.”
In the past 91 years, Homecoming on this campus has been postponed only twice, in 1944 and 1945 while the country was at war. This year, while the country, and the world, works to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic, we will postpone Homecoming for a third time.
It was not a decision we took lightly. And, as much as will miss seeing you back on campus – with your fierce Miner spirit and the sea of orange you bring with you – your safety and that of our entire UTEP and El Paso families remains our top priority.
It is our greatest wish that we can soon begin planning for next year… a Home-coming that will, in every way, revive all old ties.
Picks Up, Miners. Forever.
