About the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences program
To qualify for admission into the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (BAAS) program, you must submit the following:
- Associate’s degree from an Applied Arts or Science (AAS) program; 33 semester credit hours awarded from an organized technical program completed at a community college
- A completed admission application
- An official transcript(s); your transcript(s) must be mailed to UTEP directly from the school(s) attended and must include your diploma type, rank, and GPA
As a student in the BAAS program, you will complete 120 semester credit hours of coursework:
- 42 semester credit hours will come from General Education courses
- 33 semester credit hours will come from Transfer Credit from an organized technical program
- 15 semester credit hours will come from Foundation Courses
- 15 semester credit hours will come from Concentration I
- 15 semester credit hours will come from Concentration II
Students may select their concentration in the following areas: Communication Studies, Entrepreneurship, Food Culture and Nutrition, General Business, Intelligence and National Security Studies, Writing Studies, and others.
