Meetings & Deadlines
The LACC typically meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the first Tuesday of each month while classes are in session. Please refer to the calendar below for the time and location of the next LACC meeting, as well as the submission deadlines. The committee generally holds in-person meetings during the spring and fall semesters.
The Liberal Arts Curriculum Committee (LACC) reviews and approves undergraduate curriculum proposals for the College of Liberal Arts.
Departments within the College may submit proposals related to undergraduate programs, including: Change a Course, Change a Degree or Program, Add a Course, Delete a Course, Propose a New Degree, or Propose a New Minor.
Proposals are typically submitted to the LACC by the Department Chair or the department’s LACC representative by posting them to the SharePoint drive dedicated to the college submissions. Directions to submit your proposal via Share Point
Graduate program proposals should be submitted to the College of Liberal Arts Graduate Curriculum Committee through Dr. Caitlyn Muniz (cnmuniz@utep.edu). Fast-track programs that include curriculum proposals should submit them simultaneously to both the undergraduate and graduate committees.

Please note that proposals are reviewed by several offices for approval before advancing to the next committee. As a result, there is often a lag time of about one month between each step of the approval process. Some proposals may take 10–16 months to appear in the next catalog year.

Please submit proposals for review by August 17, September 18, or October 15 for consideration at the following month’s meeting. The Liberal Arts Curriculum Committee will make every effort to consider all eligible proposals by the November meeting so that they may proceed through the remaining approval process in time to take effect in 2027. However, placement on the November agenda cannot be guaranteed. Placement will depend on the number and complexity of proposals received and the time available for appropriate review and consideration. Therefore, proposals that require review and approval by additional bodies after the LACC should be submitted no later than September 18. Timely submission is strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for review, corrections, and subsequent levels of approval. Please keep in mind that, until a proposal has received all required approvals, it remains subject to further review, reconsideration, and requests for modification at each level of the approval process. Submitting a complete, accurate, and carefully reviewed proposal helps minimize delays and increases the likelihood that it can proceed efficiently to the next level of review. To ensure that committee members have adequate time to review the materials, substantive changes or revised documents must be submitted at least one week before the scheduled meeting. Proposals requiring substantive revisions after that deadline may be removed from the agenda and deferred to a subsequent meeting. Minor corrections that do not materially alter the proposal may be addressed as appropriate. Proposals submitted after October 15 may be scheduled for consideration at the first meeting of 2027.
