Esther Solis Al-Tabaa
I am thrilled to be returning as a full time faculty member in the First-Year Composition Program as Associate Director of Advising & Professional Development and Senior English Lecturer. My previous position at UTEP was Assistant Director of the University Writing Center from 2008-2013. I was also a full-time UTEP English Lecturer from 2001-2008.
As a native El Pasoan and as a non-traditional UTEP student and alumnus, I have a distinct insight on our student population. I teach Technical Writing, Workplace Writing, and First-Year Composition courses. Currently, I am completing a Second Master’s of Science in the Intelligence and National Security Studies program.
My current research includes themes on 21st century social issues, and students’ use of Open Source material in their research. My personal research interests include the oppression of women, in particular women’s global issues in relation to the rhetoric used to oppress them by members of their societies, agricultural and environmental ethics in “Third World” countries, and the rhetorical use of language by organizations.
