Jonathan Nehls
I am a recent addition to the English Department, teaching primarily in the First-Year composition program. I graduated from the Bilingual MFA Program at the University of Texas at El Paso. For the past few years, in addition to my teaching duties, I have been the director of ForWord, a BorderSenses Literary Project, dedicated to providing creative writing workshops and showcasing the work of El Paso youth.
I am currently at work on a couple of projects. Dust: Polvo, a novel, follows the disintegration of two families on both sides of the U.S. Mexico border, and examines gender and violence, duty and guilt, race and the endurance of identity. Never a Man, a short story collection, explores the themes of manhood and identity. My work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Masters Review, Cimarron Review, New Haven Review, Gulf Stream and The Ilanot Review, among others.
