Judith Fourzan
I am the Associate Director of First-Year Composition where, perhaps, my primary role is to provide continuity as the program evolves and changes Directors and to support the Director as deemed necessary. I have created and continue to administer the Teaching Assessment Program for First-Year undergraduate students and first-year graduate assistants. In this role I work with instructors and graduate assistants to align the mission statement and goals of the program and the teaching and scoring of student projects across approximately 80 sections. More administrative duties include creating, staffing and finding rooms for each semester’s FYC class schedule, advise schedules, work with publishers, creating and then revising the program’s Guide to First-Year Composition e-book, advising students, etc. I have taught courses in literature, English Ed and Composition. My personal philosophy of teaching is to teach rhetoric and critical thinking in all subject areas, respect students’ choices, and create a learning environment where the content is important, enlightening and entertaining.
I was instrumental in writing the proposal for our 2012 CCCC Award of Excellence, am second author of the book chapter, “DIGITAL WRITING ASSESSMENT IN ACTION: INTEGRATED PROGRAMMATIC ASSESSMENT,” for the online text, Digital Writing Assessment and Evaluation, published by Computers and Composition Digital Press, an imprint of Utah State University Press. Finally, I am ABD, working on my dissertation in Programmatic Assessment.
