Scholarships for History Majors
The Department of History is fortunate to be able to award several scholarships to deserving undergraduate history majors each year. These scholarships are made possible by the generous donations of friends and alumni of the department. They include:
- The Dr. Eugene O. Porter and Mary Ellen B. Porter Endowment
- The John Kellogg Creighton History Memorial Fund
- The Herbert and Harriet Rolph Endowed Scholarship
- The Elaine J. Mortensen Endowed Scholarship
- The Beth Ann Mooy Memorial Scholarship
These scholarships usually range from around $500 to $2,500. Awards are based on a range of criteria, including GPA, performance in history courses, and, for certain scholarships, financial need. A faculty committee meets in May of each year to select awardees. All junior and senior history majors who are enrolled full-time for the Spring semester and the up-coming Fall semester, who have taken at least two upper-division history courses, and who have not previously been awarded a scholarship, are automatically considered; no application is necessary.
Congratulations to the awardees for 2022-2023!
