Regional Texas Citizen Bee Competition
WHEN: March 26th and 29th, 2021, 4:30 pm
WHERE: Via Zoom
In March 2020, the Patti and Paul Yetter Center for Law hosted the Region 19 Texas State Citizen Bee Competition on the UTEP campus. The Texas Citizen Bee is a civic education program and competition for ninth to twelfth grade students that enhances students’ understanding of our national heritage. Topics covered by the Texas Citizen Bee include the U.S. Constitution, important people and documents, landmark U.S. Supreme Court cases, civic values and skills, and current events. The Hatton W. Sumners Foundation supports this competition for the Law Related Education Department of the State Bar of Texas. With the help of attorneys from the local bar serving as judges and LSPI students assisting with logistics, high school students participated in the Texas Citizen Bee Competition, and the first place student advanced to the state competition in Austin, Texas.
Representing Franklin High School, Andy Ma won the regional competition.
The next regional competition will be held via Zoom on March 26th and 29th, 2021.
