Philosophy MA Student Receives Multiple Honors
Feb. 28, 2022: Congratulations to Maximiliano Gutiérrez, an M.A. student in philosophy, who has been awarded multiple travel grants, both at the national and university levels. The American Philosophical Association has selected Max to participate in its “Mentoring the Mentors Workshop” at this year’s APA Pacific Division meeting in Vancouver, Canada, April 13–16. The workshop supports faculty and graduate students who “serve as mentors of undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing further study in philosophy, particularly those who mentor undergraduates from underrepresented minority groups.” Max was awarded an $850 travel grant from the APA to attend the mentoring workshop. Max will also present his own original research paper at the APA national meeting, “Hannah Arendt and the Re-Creation of the Public Space at the El Paso-Ciudad Juarez Border.” Max has been awarded an $850 travel grant from the Graduate School to attend the meeting.
