Dr. Mitchell Kirwan
Dr. Mitchell Kirwan’s research focuses on the underlying and in-the-moment factors surrounding sexual violence perpetration and victimization, most notably emotion regulation, alcohol use and intoxication, hostile masculine attitudes, LGBTQ+ identification, and impulsivity. Through his research, he hopes to better understand the etiology of sexual violence, allowing him to inform the development of prevention programs which reduce the prevalence of sexual violence perpetration, and intervention programs which reduce the negative consequences associated with sexual violence among survivors.
