Theatre and Dance
What is your story?
The Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas-El Paso is made up of diverse artists and scholars whose devotion to exceptional teaching, service, creative practice, and research aligns with the University mission by contributing to the quality of life in El Paso, the surrounding region, and beyond. Our dedicated student-centered program offers many performance and design opportunities within our season of shows at the Wise Family Theater, the June Sadowski Kruszewski Studio Theatre, and the Dinner Theater, along with traveling productions, student projects, and the Chican@/Latin@ Theatre series. Collectively, the department hosts 20 productions a year. The UTEP Department of Theatre and Dance is committed to allowing student artists to refine their skills for a professional career..
Our Core Values
We are the voice for the voiceless and advocate for social change. We are leaders for social justice in our region, using theatre and dance as a platform. Through our courses, research, productions, and mentorships, we guide and support students as role models and allies and pave the way for their success and social mobility.
This fall semester, we will open our 2024-2025 season with Disney's classic Beauty and the Beast showing in our Dinner Theatre space, which will open on October 11. Later that same month, we will feature Plumas Negras by Juliette Carrillo in the June Sadowski Kruszewski Studio Theatre, opening October 23. Before the holiday break, we are excited to bring you The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, based on the famous book by the same name by children's author Kate Dicamillo, opening on November 22.
We are so happy to continue bringing important stories to the El Paso community. We hope to see everyone in our audience for these exciting new productions.
