Theatre and Dance
What is your story?
The Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas-El Paso is made up of a diverse community of artists and scholars, whose devotion to exceptional teaching, service, creative practice and research aligns with the University mission by contributing to the quality of life in El Paso, the surrounding region, and beyond. Our student centered program is dedicated to offering a multitude of performance and design opportunities within our season of shows at the Wise Family Theater, the Studio Theatre and the UTEP Dinner Theater, along with traveling productions, student projects, and the Chican@/Latin@ Theatre series. Collectively, the department hosts 20 productions a year. The UTEP Department of Theatre and Dance is committed to providing student artists the opportunity to refine their skills for a professional career.
Our Core Values
We are the voice for the voiceless advocate for the social change. Be the beacon and the leader of social justice for the region using theatre and dance as a platform. Through our courses, research, productions and mentorships, we guide and support students as role models, allies and pave the way for their success and social mobility.
This spring semester will open with a production of Heroes and Saints by Cherrie Moraga. Our season will be closing with a dance festival in April, titled Gathering for Water: Un Festival de Danza en la Frontera. We are so happy to continue bringing important stories to the El Paso community. We hope to see everyone in our audiences for these exciting new productions.
