Research Consultation Services Policy
UTEP’s University Library strives to provide excellent service to all library users while focusing on our core mission of supporting the University's academic community.
This policy clarifies the provision of research consultation services by staff librarians both in person and through remote means (including but not limited to: telephone, SMS, online chat, virtual meeting, email, postal mail).
Primary Users
The University Library is committed to supporting the academic and research needs of the following groups:
- Current UTEP students
- UTEP faculty
- Current UTEP staff
These groups receive priority access to research consultation services.
Services for Community Users*
In the interest of community engagement, the University Library extends limited research consultation services to Community Users*, subject to demand and staff availability.
*individuals not affiliated with UTEP as a current student, faculty member, or current staff member
Research Consultation Service Limitations
To maintain the quality of services for our primary users, the library reserves the right to:
- Prioritize requests from current students, faculty members, and staff members
- Adjust service levels for Community Users based on demand and staff availability
- Discontinue services in cases of inappropriate/abusive behavior or unreasonable request
