LaunchPad builds next-generation companies and careers. We provide proven startup resources, facilitate access to a global network of mentors and advisors, and offer unique virtual and physical convening opportunities so UTEP students can go further, faster. Students learn by doing, gaining knowledge and critical skills to help them succeed as a founder or contributor to the 21st century economy. The Blackstone LaunchPad network makes entrepreneurship accessible and relevant for all college students, regardless of their background, starting point, or future plans.

Miner Market Information

This first Miner Market!

This event is created to support UTEP entrepreneurs to promote and increase awareness of their brands. The market will be located in the Union Breezeway. We have 15 tables available each day.

Registration is open and FREE to all attendees and participants.

Ideas Competition

The BLP Ideas Competition  gives students with just anidea the chance to win up to $1,000  for your idea

DID YOU KNOW?

When you enter your idea, you automatically enter a raffle for a chance to win a pair of 🍎 Apple AirPods or an Apple Watch 🍎!

 

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicants must be a  current student (undergraduate or graduate-level) in the  earliest stage of their entrepreneurial journey (anywhere from an idea on paper to a product prototype / service/pilot).
  2. Applicants must be the founder or co-founder (I.e., the person with the original idea), and may apply individually or in teams of 2
  3. All applicants will create a profile on StartupTree.

Ideas 4 tracks are:

  • Social & Climate Impact
  • Health & Life Sciences
  • Consumer Products & Services
  •  General

Winners from each campus will go on to compete in the National Round competition, where BXCF and StartupTree will select and award $10,000 to the grand prize winner in each track.

 



Final Startup Weekend Collage

Startup Weekend was a 54-hour educational event where anyone could pitch an idea and launch a business – all in one weekend. This event allowed for high-intensity ideation, creative involvement, valuable interactions with mentors and like-minded peers, as well as professional insight to inform participants’ entrepreneurial path.

Learning outcomes:

  • Effective team building and collaboration
  • Proper pitch deck development
  • Business model knowledge
  • Ability to successfully pitch to an audience


Final SE Collage

The Social Entrepreneurship Workshop was led by Joselyn Briseno who is the co-instructor and program manager for social entrepreneurship at UT Dallas. In this workshop, students learned about different social ventures and the work they are doing towards solving a social problem.

Learning outcomes:

  • Students will understand the anatomy of a social venture
  • Students will have solved a social problem with their own venture


Final Pitch Competition Collage

The Pitch competition provided an opportunity for the students to understand the process of starting a business and develop their ventures in both a collaborative and competitive environment. We were able to partner with Pioneer21 to help student with their business pitches. It was a 3-Week long program.

  • Minimal viable product development and validation

Mentor Network

The UTEP Blackstone LaunchPad Mentor Network is open to all UTEP students. Our program provides the necessary feedback for participants to advance their ventures. Mentors come from various backgrounds  and they are an essential part of our entrepreneurship culture. They impact the entire network of student entrepreneurs creating and supporting long lasting relationships.  Free benefits include:

  • Meet one-on-one with an experienced and highly successful entrepreneur who has walked in your shoes before
  • Ideas and feedback on your venture that can be applied right away
  • The chance to network and learn best practices for starting and running a business
