Welcome to the UTEP recombinant DNA/Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) webpage
Here you'll find relevant information that will assist new and established researchers. The IBC is committed to assisting faculty, staff, and students with their research while ensuring the University's compliance with all federal regulations.
The mission of the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) at The University of Texas at El Paso(UTEP) is to ensure that research involving recombinant DNA (rDNA), synthetic nucleotides, infectious agents (pathogens), biological toxins, nanotechnology, or select agents is classified at the appropriate biosafety level and done in accordance with all appropriate guidelines, regulations and good safety practices.
UTEP uses the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)as key tools for biosafety and rDNA research oversight.
