Motivated by her master’s degree in Diversity, Equity and Social Justice in Education, alumna Alyssa Huizar has become more involved in leadership roles within her school district in Washington state, where she is a middle school social studies teacher. She uses the bicultural knowledge she cultivated in El Paso to help create better equity practices within the classroom and districtwide.
