UTEP’s online doctoral program with a concentration in Early Childhood Education Leadership is a 48-credit hour degree focused on pedagogical leadership for the care and education of young children. It prepares scholar-practitioners with advanced knowledge in the field, methods of applied research and innovative applications for home-based, community-based and early elementary school classrooms.

Robyn K. Pinilla, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Teacher Education Department at UTEP, and a former early childhood special education teacher and school administrator. Her work focuses on early childhood mathematics education, teacher identity and how educators develop and teach spatial reasoning in developmentally appropriate ways. She studies how early childhood and elementary teachers integrate play-based, hands-on and interdisciplinary approaches to mathematics instruction in real classroom contexts.
Graduates are prepared for careers as instructional coordinators, program designers and development specialists in early childhood and educational settings.
