Allan MacIntyre: Volcanic Landscapes

Gallery
May 17 - September 22, 2007

Allan Macintyre is a photographer who also draws. His subject is the geologic landscape, which
El Paso has in great abundance; the nearby mountains were inspiration for mining activity in this area and for the founding of UTEP as the Texas School for the Mines in 1914. This exhibition represented the first time that Macintyre exhibited his photographs and drawings side by side, and offered a rich opportunity to compare the seriousness and stillness of the photos with the spontaneity and playfulness of the drawings.
Allan Macintyre earned his M.F.A. from the Massachusetts College of Art. He currently teaches photography at Princeton University.
