UTEP STUDENTS

The Rubin Center is a dynamic training ground for future arts professionals. UTEP students actively participate in organizing, mounting, marketing, and educating audiences about exhibitions, assuring that the galleries are intellectually and visually stimulating places to visit. Our campus is a uniquely bilingual and bicultural environment, and students bring their unique talents and diverse perspectives to our exhibitions, programming, education and outreach.

Paid Professional Internships

At the heart of the Rubin Center’s work is a team of talented undergraduate interns who are in paid professional positions that complement their studies across disciplines and prepare them for future careers in the arts and beyond. On average the Rubin Center employs between 6-8 UTEP undergraduates in part-time internships in areas as diverse as graphic design, visitors’ services, educational outreach, curatorial support, marketing and social media, video production and image management. Students work under professional staff mentors in collaborative teams and have the opportunity to engage with visiting artists, participate in professional training and development, and create resumes and portfolios that make them competitive for employment and advanced degree programs upon graduation. To learn more about our current interns please visit.

Museum Studies Minor

Students in the Museum Studies minor participate in the Rubin Center through academic internships, gallery visits and hands-on workshops with visiting artists and campus museum professionals. The Museum Studies minor combines recent theory in the field with hands on experience in interdisciplinary museums, and prepares students in all aspects of organizing, mounting, marketing, and relating to audiences about exhibitions. You can learn more about the Museum Studies Minor here.
