Numinous Space: Towards an Architecture of Spirit

By William C. Helm II
January 24 - March 22, 2008

William C. Helm explores the human response to the landscape through architecture and design. The exhibition featured drawings, models, photographic and film studies for a theoretical project located in Chaparral, New Mexico. Helm's design proposed a series of structures that offered total immersion in the existential phenomena of the desert experience. Helm's architecture, and his careful documentation of the process, invited the viewer to an individual and spiritual experience of the desert, a contemplation of the landscape and humankind's place within it.

William C. Helm II, AIA is a principal architect of In*Situ Architecture – an El Paso based architecture firm he founded in 2011.  William’s research on the subject has informed his professional practice of architecture as he brings the Numinous to spaces of all types that he designs to this day.
