The University of Texas at El Paso's Centennial Museum and the Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center for the Visual Arts showcased stunning aerial images of Latin America.
The exhibit, from Robert Haas's new book "Through the Eyes of the Condor: An Aerial Vision of Latin America," opened at the Rubin Center on Thursday, Sept. 6 and at the Centennial Museum on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007.
The UTEP exhibit included 40 images from Haas' new book. Over two years Haas traveled to 14 countries - Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela - and captured patterns in the land, its wildlife and cities that only emerge from above.
Descriptions of each photograph were taken from the journal-like reflections Haas included in his book and printed in both English and Spanish.
The book, published by National Geographic, was published simultaneously in English and Spanish.
