Forensic Science
Our Forensic Science Program was developed following the guidelines of the American Association of Forensic Science and includes tracks in Biology, Chemistry, Geology and Physics. Our first class of students starts during the fall 2011 semester.
We are currently forming our Forensic Science Advisory Committee of internal and external members, practitioners in the field of forensic science.

The BS in Forensic Science is a relatively new degree started in the fall 2011 semester. The Forensic Science Club is be designed to enable students to learn about career fields, graduate school, establish a presence in the American Academy of Forensic Science (AAFS), and to form student and professional networks.

3-credit Summer class held every July at Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow, Scotland
The class introduces students to methods in forensic science and its applicability to the criminal justice system in Scotland. The programme includes a series of lecture and practical sessions. Lectures and sessions are supplemented with field trips to a forensic (or equivalent) laboratory, prison and a criminal court. Students will receive a transcript on successful completion of the course, and that course is directly transferable and the Summer programme is open to any student with basic knowledge in chemistry and biology.
Three College of Science Students Accepted To the Prestigious Forensic Science Summer Program in Scotland
Paola Ganda, Sabrina Gayle, and Luz Porras have been accepted to the prestigious and competitive summer forensic science program at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. The main aim of the program is for students to gain knowledge and hands-on lexperience in forensic science practices and the criminal justice system in Scotland. The three week program is run
by faculty at Glasgow Caledonia University and experts from the Scottish Criminal Justice System. The program includes hands-on laboratory experience in finger printing, drug analysis, hair and fiber analysis, and field trips to the Courts, Prisons, Police Force and Fire Investigation Unit.
All three students are high-performing seniors who plan to pursue graduate work in forensic science. All three students have interned with the El Paso Country Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit and Major Crime Unit for several years.
