General Information

Hamidreza Sharifan, Ph.D.

I earned my Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, and subsequently conducted two years of postdoctoral research at UC Davis and Colorado State University. During this time, I focused on the fate and transport of poly- and perfluorinated compounds (PFAS), studying GHG emissions from various sources, including wastewater treatment systems, compost facilities, and dairy digesters.

After two fruitful years as an assistant professor specializing in environmental chemistry and forensics at Albany State University, I embarked on a new chapter by joining the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Texas at El Paso. Over this period, I've had the privilege of mentoring numerous dedicated graduate and undergraduate students across a spectrum of research endeavors. My driving passion is to advance both the research domain and curriculum of the Department while providing expanded opportunities for student involvement in cutting-edge research related to environmental issues and forensics.
