Cheerleading and Paydirt Pete
The University of Texas at El Paso is taking measures to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and faculty during the COVID-19 outbreak. On Tuesday, March 24th, the City of El Paso issued a shelter-at-home ordinance to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. All COVID-19 updates can be found at www.utep.edu/coronavirus.
In accordance with the guidance of The University of Texas System and The University of Texas at El Paso, the UTEP Cheer program will move forward with tryouts for the 2020-2021 season, virtually.
This decision follows Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for large gatherings.
We will update prospective students with information regarding the application and tryout process.
We are working remotely from our homes. Please direct questions to Coach Bianca via email at bmarquez6@utep.edu
The team consists of +/- 30 student-athletes (varies w/injuries, etc.) and are divided into co-ed (aka, stunt team) and an all-girl/small coed teams. Our program also includes the school mascot, Paydirt Pete. We take great pride in our commitment to ensuring that we provide cheer support at campus/community events and at athletic events including but not limited to: football, men’s & women’s basketball, volleyball, & soccer.
