Founded in 2014, the UTEP Food Pantry offers support and assistance to UTEP students who are dealing with food insecurity. Food insecurity refers to having limited food available, including a reduction in the quality, safety or variety of food or ability to acquire food in a socially acceptable manner. Researchers have suggested that food insecurity is an issue that an estimated half of all college students struggle with. At UTEP, we recognize that food insecurity is an obstacle to student success and think it’s critical that students’ basic needs are being met.
The UTEP Food Pantry depends on the financial support and donations of the community in order to purchase food for the pantry, facilitate programs, activities and initiatives that bring awareness of food insecurity, finance the students who work in the food pantry and market the Pantry to our current students.
Food insecurity is a growing problem for students pursuing higher education. Please consider donating non-perishable food or a monetary donation to the UTEP Food Pantry today. We welcome your support and thank you in advance for any and all contributions made to the UTEP Food Pantry. Miners take Care of Miners!
