Inclusive Excellence
UTEP has adopted an inclusive excellence perspective to guide our work and serve as a framework for operationalizing equitable and inclusive practices. The components of inclusive excellence are organizational structures, organizational behavior, and measures of success. Organizational structures involve accountability for messaging the importance of inclusive and equitable practices that lead to an excellent education for all students; capacity building that includes infrastructure to develop faculty, staff, and unit capabilities; and investment of resources to support FIRST goals. Organizational behavior includes examining professional norms and working to change norms that are not conducive to inclusive excellence, intentional engagement to ensure inclusive and equitable environments, and building collegiality, trust, and respect. Inclusive excellence guides UTEP’s decision-making processes to ensure student success, faculty development, and success.
