As a native Spanish speaker navigating English as a second language, writing initially intimidated me. However, with time, writing became fun and analytical for me, and I just became comfortable writing with errors and enjoying the revision part of the process. My bilingual identity has strongly influenced my writing. This element brings a unique perspective and authenticity to my work, allowing me to connect with a diverse range of students and their writing needs. My academic background as a double major in English and American Literature and Psychology has profoundly shaped my writing skills. Courses in Postcolonial literature have broadened my understanding of cultural perspectives to analyze writing, while General Experimental Lab courses have provided me with essential skills in conducting research and writing APA research papers. These experiences have molded my approach to writing, allowing me to appreciate the intricacies of literary analysis and the rigors of scientific research, which align with my academic interests. However, I’ve also been inspired by the works of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Sofia Coppola. Browning's and Coppola's profound exploration of relationships and captivating storytelling deeply resonate with my love for literature. A piece of advice for writers facing blocks or struggling to begin is to start with a simple, unfiltered draft. Don't be afraid of imperfection. You can always revise your work afterward.
